C.D. Büttner Sicherheitstechnik GmbH has been one of Germany’s best-known security companies for more than 30 years. Büttner relies on M2M SIM cards from WhereverSIM for its installed systems.
"Our work isn’t just about installing an alarm system. We’re also responsible for maintaining a stable and secure connection to these complex systems so that we can be notified immediately of any incidents in an emergency. After all, that’s the whole point and purpose of such a system," says Claus-Dieter Büttner, managing director of C.D. Büttner Sicherheitstechnik GmbH.
"Unfortunately, that hasn’t always been easy," Büttner explains. “In new reinforced concrete buildings, for example, reception can be limited—especially if you only use SIM cards from a single mobile network provider, as we did before we discovered WhereverSIM.
If that one major provider didn’t have coverage in a particular location, things became complicated and stressful for us. In that case, we could only ensure connectivity for our systems by laying new cables and installing additional antennas. That was a costly extra expense.” An expense that is now a thing of the past.
With WhereverSIM’s M2M SIM cards, Büttner relies on a single M2M solution that enables its security systems to connect to multiple networks throughout Germany and Europe. If one mobile network goes down, the system can easily connect to the next available network thanks to the SIM card. This ensures a stable connection and minimizes the risk of disconnection.
Which network the device connects to depends solely on the available signal strength. WhereverSIM’s M2M SIM cards do not favor any specific network operator. Unlike M2M SIM cards from network operators, they do not dictate which network a device must connect to.
"Since the switch from ISDN to IP, it has become even more important for us to have a reliable cellular connection. In the event of a power outage, the internet router loses power and the primary connection is interrupted. In this case, the cellular network must be available as a backup; otherwise, we lose our connection to the system. By using WhereverSIM, we’ve virtually eliminated this risk.”
Another advantage for Büttner: the user-friendly online portal. “Another plus of WhereverSIM is the customer portal. We can see all our active SIM cards at a glance and easily analyze all the data. This significantly reduces the administrative burden even further.”
